Generation For Sale – Motion

Again for second term we had another motion project which involved using chroma key and was based around a person talking to the audience. I decided to go with a roto scope technique and a topic of generation Y. This is the outcome.
Enjoy.

Also there I did a case study on this project and you can download that

Motion Sync, Typography – Motion

For motion design class this term we had to pair up with someone and create a motion piece synced to sound. My partner Taylor and myself decided to kill two birds with one stone and do the motion piece as our typography assignment as well.
Here is the outcome.
Enjoy.

Self Portrait – Print

As of late I have been getting more into the print world and wanting to per-sue it a little more so then motion. I still am very busy with motion but having a good print background is key to being a solid motion designer.
For a class in school we had to create a self portrait and this is the outcome of my work.

Filming in Progress – Skateboarding

Besides going to school at VFS I also take part regularily in skateboarding. Skateboarding is one of the reasons I am in fact at this school. It alone got me into filming and editing making me push my self using camera’s and editing software.

After a couple years of filming skating I had never came out with a full length video. This is now about to change as this past summer I got together a few friends who are stoked to film a video. This is the result of what has been filmed so far.

You could call it the first teaser but really its just to let everyone know that we are in fact filming a video and are serious about it.

Enjoy.

Talking Head – Look Frame

In a recent effort I have tried to get ahead on my schooling by getting things as organized as I can. One of our big assignments this term is a talking head piece that is supposed to be largely based around chroma keying. Luckily I had a topic and idea pop into my head quite quickly giving me a real push forward on the project within a couple days. I managed to get the concept down, references, notes, advice, feedback etc. while also getting ahold of a friend that is a writer who will punch out a nice script for me. I have never felt so productive about a project in such a short amount of time , and I really do feel its going to make this project go in the right direction. For the mean time I have my look frame done, while next I shall be venturing into storyboarding, scripting, gathering a cast, and nailing down locations.

Lets Hope this pace continues.

Kerupt – Print

Today we got back to school again and began with some motion design classes. Things being a little slow in between classes and the fact that we now operate on windows seven I decided to play around in photoshop with my good old name of Kerupt from Kerupt films with Cam Sollows. Back in the day of my mountain biking years my friend Cam and I came up with this film production company called Kerupt films and ever sense then that name has stuck with me throughout all my filming and design years. Non the less I still do like the name and much enjoy utilizing it in things such as posters and for videos still.
This is the poster and there should be more to come as I want to continue practicing with print design.
Enjoy.

Take Away Show “Phoenix” – Music

A few months ago I cam across a French indie music blog. This blog I must say is very much different then what I am normally used to when flipping through pages and pages upon blogs.
No this blog has a special thing to it. They are called Take Away Shows. It is Le Blogotheque’s podcasts of indie band and I cant get over how good they all are and how refreshing it is to see these bands in an acoustic enviornment.

Description of take away shows from La Blogotheque.
“Every week, we invite an artist or a band to play in the streets, in a bar, a park, or even in a flat or in an elevator, and we film the whole session. Of course, what makes the beauty of it is all the little incidents, hesitations, and crazy stuff happening unexpectingly. Besides, we do not edit the videos so they look perfectly flawless, instead we keep the raw sound of the surroundings. Our goal is to try and capture instants, film the music just like it happens, without preparation, without tricks. Spontaneity is the keyword.”

This one I very much like in paticular as I love the band Phoenix and with their growing popularity it is awesome to see them step back and go back to their roots and do a take away show.

Goin’ Down – Music Video

Recently I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Thomas Smith on another one of his music video’s. I must admit he works us very hard but its always a good time and well worth helping out. I have worked on a few of his pieces helping him out with little things and it is always a good learning experience for production techniques and such. I also cannot leave Rob which is the artist of the music for this video. He is a very mellow dude who was extremely grateful of the crew’s help and what Tom had produced for him. Besides this video I must tell you to also take a look at the rest of Tom’s library of music videos on Vimeo.
Now here is the final product……and checkout Rob’s my space. myspace.com/pennanbrae

Campus – Motion

Today was the day of break for my fellow classmates and me. The end of first term in the Digital Design program is definitely a long awaited goal. With a lot of things going on in this term our biggest project was our motion design short story. Personally I turned mine more into a music video than anything, but it still tells a story none the less. A couple days worth of production and a weeks worth of Post shot out this new little baby onto the pages of vimeo.
Enjoy.
