Inception at The PNE

It was the 100 anniversary for the Pacific National Exhibition, aka PNE. It was a nice summer day and definitely a fun day for tons of families and friends, I know I had tons of fun with my mom and sister. This was the first time I got to photograph a fair, which are fun events to photograph, tons of things to capture and shoot. I have come to a realization that I really like taking pictures of crowded events. You may wonder why I am calling this article the “Inception at The PNE” if you scroll down to the very last picture, this just proves how crowded it was at the PNE and if you look at a bigger version of that picture it just feels as if the people are still moving and are about to tip over. Anyways like I said had tons of fun at the PNE eating, watching live entertainment, check out art work and riding 60 year old roller coaster! If you wanna see some more pictures go check out my flickr account here.

Matix Meets 5D Meets 10mm Sigm Fisheye

August 15th there was a Matix skate competition on Granville, it was a very nice and hot day. The skate competition was all about who could land the best line of tricks. Since I had already shot a nice skate vid on Granville street I was a little worried it might look the same. Luckily I had an opportunity to shoot with a canon 5D (which I haven’t done yet, is that a big deal?) but what made it cooler was that I decided to do a little experiment with the 10mm Sigma fisheye. It gave this really crazy vignette effect, the reason is because the sigma fisheye is meant for APS-c cameras. Here’s what I put together, just a really short and quick edit, nothing too special just wanted to show you guys the effect that I got with the fisheye. Enjoy! and Mahalo’s!

Matix: Lord of the Lines

Here are some pictures I took at the Matix Lord of the Lines Skate competition. During this event I really wanted to play with the 10mm Sigma on the Canon 5D, its such a crazy effect I find cause the 10mm Sigma Fisheye was made for APS-c cameras, but the 5D is a full frame camera. It gives an effect that I haven’t seen yet. Anyways check them out and see what you think.

Whistler – 7D

This is a short little piece I put together of the footage I shot during my trip up to Whistler and back to Vancouver. Whistler is definitely one of the best places to go and the drive up there is very beautiful. It was a little difficult filming while riding in the car for me, it was a little bumpy, but luckily the 60fps cures that a bit.

Most of the footage was shot with the 50mm 1.8 lens, but there are a few shots that you’ll see were shot with the Sigma 10mm fisheye lens, which is a lot of fun to use, and the kit lens 18-135mm, I find this lens to be pretty good as far as a kit lens.Hope you guys enjoy the vid, let me know what you guys think.

WEC Closing Reception

Here’s an event called the World Education Congress. This was a convention made up of business members coming from different parts of Canada to learn from industry experts and the best thought-leaders in the business. This was the closing reception for this even, had a handful of musicians, dancers, cars and dj’s attending this event. Motorcycles and nice cars were supplied by AZZKIKR.ca. Here are some pictures and hopefully I’ll be able to get some video up on there. Oh and a big thanks to Mark Smith for getting me in this event!

Miss Miami: Hand Made or Digital

Here’s a piece that I had created today in Experimental 2D Graphics Class. We were supposed to make textures but I really wanted to create a piece that I could use as a portfolio piece. Just a few things that I wish I could fix about it is that it was digital so that I could fix one of the ink drops. But the cool thing about this is that I created this by hand. I really like the type of effects that turned out, will try doing something like this again.

Summertime in Whistler

Whistler, definitely one of my favorite places to be! I just don’t know how it gets to me but it is one of the best places to be on a summer day. Really enjoyed the family time, drove there, eat nachos at the longhorn, went for a bike ride to the lost lake, took a dip, got a drink back at the village, and drove back home at sunset. Here are the pictures, I do have to say this is my best pictures yet, really like how they turned out. Concentrated on being quick with settings especially when sitting in the car trying to take pictures of moving objects on a windy road. Pushed the depth of field and tried to throw in some portrait shots, great models :P Well I hope you guys like them tell me what you think. Mahalo’s!

Golden Sky’s and Purple Sea’s

Some new pictures that I took the other day at Magic Hour down at Jericho Beach. This is definitely my new favorite beach in the Vancouver area. I really enjoy going here cause its great to escape the downtown city life and be able to kinda kick back and chill. In this photo shoot I really was trying to capture the colors in the sky and sea. I won’t lie these photos had a little touch up on them, wish I could get my hands on a film camera so I could really challenge myself, instead of going on the computer and retouching images. But anyways check em out and hope you guys like them.

We Don’t Dance Sessions

Here are some pictures I’ve taken over the past few weeks for my buddy Drew Hutchinson. For his final he is creating a music video for the Vancouver based rap group Shottas. These pictures here are some of the dance rehearsal sessions I had sat in with Drew to watch. If you wanna check out some pictures that were taken during the shot check out Nicks Lenko’s Blog.

State Of Mind Logo Animation

This was done for another 3d assignment, I used this opportunity to use the State of Mind Productions logo, the company that I am currently branding, just too see what the possibilities could be for other possible Idents. Let me know what you guys think, and any advice is well appreciated.
