vidoteca

Posted On: Mar 12th 2009
I’m working on a broadcast package for a music video online channel for my Motion Design term 4 Project here at VFS. I’ve been experimenting with variations of videos as backgrounds and using very simple type. The idea is to keep it all about the video, so the type is the actual video itself.
It’s still a work in progress… I’ve just been playing around for some hours and this is what I’ve come up with for now.

What is the brief or challenge for this? While this series all fit into a definite theme I have no idea what Vidoteca is from just looking at these idents. None of these things really say music video for me. Also for an online bumper 5 seconds with such little “action” is a really long time to hold someones attention online. Hope this helps and gives you some more things to think about. Cheers and keep up the good work.

Hi Jamie. These aren’t actually the idents. I’m just experimenting with how type can mask the video playing in the background and be created using the actual video as the type texture. It’s hard for me to explain it, I am just playing around with the technical part of my idea right now, no real visuals yet, wich is why I used very universal and standard videos as background references.
So no real ID yet, I like the typeface and the name, and the idea of the name blending back into the video.
Thanks for your comment, I still have a long way to go, but I’m just getting started.
