This is a Nike commercial about Team Canada at 2010. There are 32million(how many of us are there now??) Canadians expecting nothing less than a Gold medal. The hype has started since the orientation camp and is just going to build for the next 160 or so days. Its going to be crazy here in Vancouver in February, but like the rest of us, I can’t wait. Gold or nothing.
So here is the complete trailer for the sci-fi book, “Post-human” by David Simpson. I created a few of the shots in this, which can be seen on here. I had never heard of a book trailer before this project and hopefully we will see more of them. Was a lot of fun working on a more visual effects style too. Lots of experimenting and learning new techniques.
This is another scene from the sci-fi novel, book trailer I worked on called, “Post-human”, by David Simpson. This scene he just wanted the guy taking off from the street into space, then flying across the galaxy. I have done an earth zoom shot before, so recreating that was pretty simple. To the guy I added a green glow, made with Shine, and animated the expansion of the mask to make it flicker a bit. For the space shot, I added a fractal noise layer to give the sun the “heat” effect and then I pulled back the camera and animated a lens flare.
This is another shot I did for the sci-fi book trailer, “Post-human”. by David Simpson. This shot he wanted the tiny little “nans”(particles) to swarm the city. I just layered a bunch of these particles and added a layer of green glowing ones to represent thew people in the city. I used motion sketch to give the feel of a hand held camera.
I recently worked on a book trailer for the sci-fi book called “Post-human”, by David Simpson. I was asked to create a few scenes from it. This one is a green “force-field” glow that ignites when the guy snaps his hand back. I played a lot with fractal noise, and turbulent displace to get the smokey effect. Added a glow to it and then the lens flare to the final comp, which faded the green colour to a yellowish hue which I think really took away the “cheeziness” of it.
This is the wedding video I made for my sisters wedding this summer to my best friend. As you can imagine, I was not too impressed with my best friend dating my sister at first, but that was probably to be expected. She has never been happier and now I have my drinking buddy at every family function, which is pretty sweet. Anyways I made this to basically show how they grew up and how they met each other, which I guess could be considered my doing.
I went to my buddy’s bachelor party in Kelowna this last weekend, and we shot some video of us drinking and us playing golf. The only reason we didn’t have more footage is because you can’t take cameras into the bars which is where we were the rest of the time. I cut the edits to the song by Guns and Roses, “Ain’t it Fun”. My camera is a 5 year old MiniDV so the quality is pretty low, but for an older look it kind of works.
Game seven of the Stanley Cup Finals was on yesterday and in Canada, it should basically be considered a holiday. One of the most exciting playoffs ended with a very intense win by the Penguins. This article pretty much describes what Im talking about.
Just an experiment Thomas and I did with a random piece of footage. We both used the same piece of footage and could do whatever we wanted to it. I decided on mirroring the image and using various solid layers with a vivid light transfer mode. The cherries don’t really go with the rest of the theme but I thought they kind of looked cool. Plus I rotoscoped them for a couple hours so I didn’t want to waste them.
I have redone, tweaked, fixed and polished a few of the projects that I did over the last year at school. There is another version of Bobby Fischer on there. I did a little work on it for my portfolio and ended up having to redo all the audio for it. Ayrakus has also been redone, and I am in the process of re-editing Just Another Psycho. Instead of posting them all on my blog, I decided to tell you where they all are. Vimeo. The link on the sidebar will take you to my Vimeo page where I upload all my work. I recently did a free lance job after school for an eBay Marketing company and that is also there.
